Rose and I took a bike trip to the coast and ate mussels and frites. Stopped by Anchorage for a quick hello to friends, then flew to Seattle with Tim for a few days to visit Dr. Elise and to check out my new apartment. We piled on my flying boogie board and flew up to Port Townsend for sushi with Dr. Captain Stephen Kinsley and Laura, missed the ferry on the way back and ate four pounds of cherries instead.

The clocked ticked over and marked the end of the Sabbath and the beginning of a new year of my life. The hymn playing in the background seemed to convey a sense of smooth transition, as though the markers of time we obsess over are of no real consequence.
